Tell the EPA: Strengthen the “Good Neighbor” Rule!

The Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR) is a common-sense solution to the fact that pollution from one state can impact air quality in another.

Dear Administrator Regan, 

Thank you for the Transport Rule, proposed on February 28, which would help 26 states fully resolve their “good neighbor” obligations for the 2015 Ozone NAAQS.

I’m concerned about the ways ozone and air pollution threaten the health of our families and communities, and applaud your efforts to address these problems and more through a suite of rules that tackle pollutants across the power sector.

Thank you for the strong levels of protection in this particular proposal, for including additional states (specifically Nevada, Utah and Wyoming), and for including additional industrial sources of air pollution (like cement kilns, iron and steel boilers, glass furnaces, and more). 

Finally, thank you for standards that send clear signals to a power sector that is already in the midst of a transition toward cleaner, more affordable energy sources. 

No matter who you are or where you live, everyone wants and deserves clean air. This Good Neighbor proposal will lead directly to improvements in public health and quality of life, and I urge the agency to swiftly finalize this proposal.
